Why Galle

Sri Lanka's south coast, on your doorstep

Galle is the jewel of the south: a 400-year-old fort town, golden beaches in every direction and some of the best food on the island. It's warm all year, easy to reach from Colombo on the expressway, and from the villa it's all a short ride away.

HISTORY

A living UNESCO fort

Cobbled lanes, colonial churches and a lighthouse inside 17th-century ramparts, still home to families, artists and cafés.

BEACHES

Golden bays all along the coast

Swim at Unawatuna and Jungle Beach, surf at Hikkaduwa or Weligama, or stay on your own stretch of sand.

FOOD

Fresh seafood and real curry

Grilled catch of the day, rice and curry, hoppers and king coconut, from beach shacks to fine dining in the fort.

EASY TRIP

Warm all year, close to Colombo

Around 27–30°C year-round, and about two hours from Colombo airport on the Southern Expressway.
